On August 18, 2016, at his press conference/briefing, Mayor Todd Strange issued a proclamation declaring September 2016 GYN Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Montgomery.

Present to receive the proclamation was Kim Fehl, Montgomery resident and GYN cancer survivor, as well as Kelly Rice, A State of Teal chairperson and ovarian cancer survivor. Also present for the presentation was Matt Collins, owner of Newk's in Montgomery, Auburn and Opelika, and Todd Jackson, owner of Newk's locations in the greater Birmingham area.

In addition to issuing the proclamation, the City of Montgomery will be lighting up teal in September for GYN Cancer Awareness Month. The Riverwalk Tunnel and Dexter Avenue Fountain will both be colored teal.  The Retirement Systems of Alabama will be lighting two of their buildings in Montgomery teal as well. The Dexter Avenue Tower and the Renaissance Hotel will be lit teal on September 2nd. In addition, Jackson Hospital will feature the the ASOT logo on their light projection on the I-85 side of the hospital during September. Thank you to the City of Montgomery and the RSA for their continued support.

We are pleased to be partnering with Newk's at the Birmingham, Montgomery and Auburn area locations as they host SPIRIT Night on September 1st. For more information about SPIRIT night at Newk's, click here.
